Here you go…..
“Bag dod zindhagi, thakna mana hai……Revital, jeyo jebarke” ,
“I am not here for a morning walk, I am here for a race”,
“SWOT analysis, know your competitor. Out play them in every aspect”,
Lastly, “Have a breakfast or be a beakfast” http://online.wsj.com/article/SB126465641868236415.html?mod=rss_Business) by Dr. Y.L.R. Moorthi. (One of the best articles that I have read).
But how long do I need to run. I am tired, though I am yet to reach my 30’s. Appa says, his friends’ son has more lakh’s per annum than mine. Amma says I have to grow and be better human than my peers in extended relatives. Anna wants me to be responsible and (un)spend money. In between HDFC comes up with an advertising, “yendigu thale baagilla endigu thale bagalaaarevu”
Inflation, recession, have tons of money and retire soon…………. and then do what?
I remember, when I was kid we use to travel a lot. Since my dad dint know how to drive, my brother pitched in. Ours a huge family, Appa, Amma and we four kids, Atthe, Maama and they too had four kids. So, jam packed 12 (Now, we need a bus to accommodate all of us, some of them got added and those who got added dint keep quiet, they multipled!!!!) started on our journey.
I was fond of my bros driving, he would get us in 4 1/2 hrs flat from Tirupathi till blore. Maama on the other side dint press the metal to go past 60km/hr. My sis was fond of Atthe, would generally sit in their car. I sat along my bro. Needless to say we reached blore much ahead of them. They would come couple of hrs later and I would remain gazing at the gates for their arrival.
I might be temporarily happy that I got to be home early, had a luxury of relaxing on a sofa, watched cartoon along with coffee. But on the other hand when my sister explained about her experience, coffee stop underneath a huge tree. Pond water to play with and some sugar cane which she carried to show me, which she got from the farm midway. I kicked myself and sulked for not being in the other car.
As I grew I got into the rat race. I was a happy lecturer with MES College, had an institution which trained Engg Students. My friends had other plans for me. They thought I might be a good corporate person. I, eventually got my first assignment as implementation executive with 3i-Infotech. The need for the better carrot dint spare me too. Technical Writer, Sapient Corporation read my e-mail signature for some time. Was tired by the time I was a Lead Tech Writer with IBM. My performance wasn’t great, fatigue had its display in the work I did, rather, in the work which I dint. I thought for a while and said, it’s better to hang up shoes, did quit IBM. Now what, got back to that same profession (I now call it ‘Vocation’), where I had happiness, where I had respect, where I could feel my life is of some use.
Now, time is not a linear factor for me anymore, it’s a seasonal one. The era of competition dint leave me here too. I have been given Section C and D to handle while my other colleague of the same dept handles Section A and B. There is a competition amongst us (Profs) to produce maximum results. When a student of Sec A asked me a doubt, there was an alarm, “Boss, her results will shoot up!!!”. Until this happened I never understood the intensity of the bug, 'Competition’. Eventually I gave up the smaller concern for a bigger concern, but the alarm did ring for once.
Why should we enforce “Your loss is my gain”, than having a system where it’s a win-win for everyone? Now that we have advanced in technology, why not have co-existence system than curbing the other human?
I was speculating with Raji, he had a last say, "Darwin’s theory is not complete, if everything is just for survival and winning .... then what is the purpose of existence?”
I really had to work hard to get this thing out of you. Keep writing, not for competing with anyone, but for the sake of writing and debating.
ReplyDeleteVery good write-up, which I guess reflects the thoughts of many others who are sailing in the same boat. This will make them think deep into the purpose of their competetion in life.
I think I told you "darwin's theory is not complete" (if not, I actually meant this). I am not good enough to make a comment that the theory is flawed.
Thank you Sir, correction noted...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the valid input Pete, have incorporated the changes.
ReplyDeletewhat an idea sirji................
ReplyDeletethouthts jotted like a flow of intelectual rain...
FIRST. Mr. Intellectual... I have a bone to pick with you.
ReplyDeleteSECOND. I was your first ever "student" i deserve to know better! that too that your a "lecturer".
THIRD. The blog is good. Darwin was an intelligent dude.. and I respect that, the question posed is poised on angst. If you had not selflessly gone ahead and taught me(life and sanskrit mixed into one), I wouldn't be the person I am today(I'm pretty awesome now, you've to meet me to believe that)Imparting knowledge is the best you could do to change someone's life... I'm your best example :) and the best student you can ever have!
@ Jp, Thanks dude.
ReplyDelete@ Kav, thanks honey. I know and i trust my coaching. Now, i proudly say, am in the process of making many more Kav's, an entity in a way, would believe, 'Happiness is not life… life is happiness personified… :)'
Co-existence system idea is good. But people might take it for granted, it may cut down the growth. On the other hand, if people take 'Competition’ in right manner would help them for the growth.
ReplyDeleteAny how good maga...
and your "The Wall Street Journal" article didn't make any sense for me except that i got remembered few things used in the past and now forgotten.
@ Mona, article posted in WSJ is not mine, but of a prof at IIM.
